The qualification phase for the 2010 World Cup South Africa is officially over. The first team ever to qualify for the World Cup, Uruguay as the last of the 32 teams to qualify for the 2010 World Cup after Uruguay withstood the Costa Rican pressure late last night.
Controversial Match – France vs Ireland
One of the most controversial matches was the Ireland France match in the Stade de France where France qualified because of a dodgy goal – in fact, France Captain Thierry Henry has admitted that he handled the ball in the goal mouth and deprived Ireland of their World Cup dreams.
Algeria Defeated Egypt
Algeria defeated more popular Egypt to secure the last African berth and compete in the World Cup for the first time since 1986.
